Parent Support

Lynne Trail is our Parent Support Advisor (PSA) who can provide a network of contacts, and assist with numerous issues – relating to children and families. These may include concerns about your child’s homework, worries that your child may have at school (curricular or social,) or a huge range of issues such as housing, finance, separation or domestic violence. It may be that you are new to the area and need information about local services, or wish to meet new friends. All concerns are handled in a confidential, sensitive and professional manner.

Lynne will be available on a drop in basis at school on Monday or Wednesday mornings before 9.30am. Appointments may also be made via the school office. Marshside School provides a variety of popular, interesting and informative events for our parents, carers and their friends. The list below has evolved over recent years as parents have expressed an interest, or have sought more information about their child’s experiences within the school environment. We are happy to provide other courses to meet the needs of your family. We are pleased to announce that we have joined Southport Foodbank which provides emergency food supplies and support to families in crisis.  There can be any one of  a number of reasons why a family may be in need of help and our school has been authorised to distribute vouchers to families who are eligible.  As part of our committment and awareness raising we have also set up a small collection point in our Entrance Hall.  If you would like more information please call into school for a leaflet or contact Lynne Trail or Pauline Gerrard.  All enquiries will be handled in a discreet and confidential manner.


Our Parent Course has now finished and excellent feedback was received from everyone who attended it.  We will be looking at running another course in the Spring Term and will post information in relation to this as soon as dates have been organised.  Our course is positive, supportive and good fun, it is also a great way of meeeting other parents and making new friends.   If anyone has any parenting concerns or specific issues please contact  Lynne Trail who will be pleased to offer assistance with information, strategies or sign posting.  All issues are dealt with professionally and confidentially in a relaxed and supportive way.


Parenting 2000 will be running a 4 week Baby Massage course starting on Thursday 16 January at 9.15am.   Please look out for further details.  If you wish to book a place on this course please contact Lynne Trail via the School Office.


Parenting 2000 are running a Bookworms Club for our Reception Class children.  This club is due to start on Wednesday 22 January 3.30pm-4.30pm and will run for 4 weeks.  The club is for children and parents to attend together and each week it will be themed around a particular book.   A story will be shared at the beginning of the session and activities relating to the story will be carried out during the session.  It is a great way to promote the love of books and sharing stories with your child.  If you would like to book a place please contact Lynne Trail via Reception Class or the School Office.


From September 2013 your 2 year old child may be entitled to a free nursery place for 15 hours per week.  You are eligible to apply if you receive one of the following: 

Income support, Income Based Job Seeker’s Allowance, Income related Employment & Support Allowance, Support under Part VI of the Immigration & Asylum Act 1999, Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit, Child Tax Credit (but not working Tax Credit) & have an income of less than £16190.
